Conscious Connected Breathing is a body-based self-healing tool that promotes physical, emotional and spiritual healing. It bypasses your conscious mind to access your subconscious programming which enables you to get in touch with your inner wisdom.

Physically – initially it activates the sympathetic nervous system to charge the body with awareness and then towards the end of the session actives the rest and restore mode, which can help reduce cortisol, promote relaxation and help manage stress more effectively. It also improves oxygenation and circulation, supports overall health and vitality and can leave you more energised, relaxed and in tune with your body.

Emotionally and mentally – it can improve clarity by accessing and processing suppressed emotions and trauma stored in the body; improve cognitive function and concentration and help with anxiety, depression, sleep and other chronic ailments. It slows down electrical activity in the brain and activates the vagus nerve.

Spiritually – it can create a deeper sense of connection with the self, bringing more self-knowledge and insights.

The first session will last around an hour and a half, and will include conversations about your health and lifestyle, an explanation about the breathing technique, a half hour breathe and a debrief. I include some acupressure which involves touch and please feel free to let me know if you would rather not have this.

For best results, avoid alcohol, caffeine, and any other intoxicants for at least 24 hours prior to your session.

Wear loose comfortable clothing. To ensure your comfort during the session, please avoid eating for at least 2 hours beforehand. Stay well-hydrated and drink plenty of water throughout the day before the session.

Allow some space and time afterwards to integrate what you have experienced.

Everyone has a different experience, and each time can be totally different as your body will guide you through the process allowing you to access negative thoughts, memories, dissolve limiting beliefs, complete emotions that have not been fully processed and/or gain invaluable insights.  Some have a very relaxing and peaceful experience, some can be emotional and teary, or dreamlike. Many find that inner perceptions change.

Conscious Connected Breathwork is a powerful tool for emotional release, stress reduction, and personal growth. However, like any potent healing modality, it may not be suitable for everyone. While many people benefit from its transformative effects, there are specific medical and psychological conditions that may require caution—or make participation inadvisable altogether.

Below is a list of medical reasons which makes CCB unsuitable for some individuals

1. Cardiovascular Conditions

Breathwork can lead to significant changes in heart rate and blood pressure. Individuals with the following conditions should exercise caution:

• High blood pressure (uncontrolled)

• Heart disease

• History of heart attacks

• Arrhythmias or palpitations

2. Respiratory Conditions

The altered breathing patterns involved can place stress on the lungs and airways:

• Asthma (especially if severe or uncontrolled)

• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

• Lung disease or recent respiratory infection

3. Neurological Concerns

The intense physical and emotional effects of breathwork may trigger or worsen certain neurological symptoms:

• Epilepsy or seizure disorders

• History of stroke or traumatic brain injury

• Migraines (especially if triggered by hyperventilation)

4. Psychiatric Conditions

Breathwork can induce intense emotional experiences that may be destabilizing for some:

• Schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders

• Bipolar disorder (especially during manic or depressive episodes)

• Severe anxiety or panic disorders (if not managed)

• Untreated post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) — Breathwork may surface overwhelming memories or emotions that are difficult to process without proper support

5. Pregnancy

The physical intensity of some breathwork sessions, along with the emotional upheaval they can bring, may not be safe during pregnancy, especially in the first  trimester or trying to conceive

6. Recent Surgeries or Physical Injuries

Because breathwork can involve physical movement or tension, it’s not recommended for individuals recovering from:

• Major surgery

• Physical trauma (e.g., broken bones, hernias)

7. Glaucoma or Retinal Detachment

Increased pressure from breath retention or intense breathing can exacerbate these eye conditions.

Final Note

If you have any pre-existing medical or psychological condition, it’s essential to speak with your doctor or a qualified healthcare provider before beginning Conscious Connected Breathwork. Safety should always be the foundation of healing.

When in doubt, choose a certified facilitator trained to adapt the practice to your unique needs—or help you find an alternative method better suited to your circumstances.
